Key Security Features
TV Server and HD Encoder are hardened, Linux-based, on-premises appliances with the following security features:
- Installation of additional software is blocked
- Strong, user-defined passwords are required for all access
- Built-in firewall supports restricting access to customer-defined IP addresses
- All services run under non-privileged accounts
- Web access can be configured to HTTPS-only
- The default self-signed TLS certificate can be replaced with a customer provided certificate

Ongoing Security Policy
Encoded Media's policy is to:
- Constantly monitor CERT/CC advisories for Linux vulnerabilities and make relevant fixes available as optional updates to all customers
- Upon customer request, to evaluate and where appropriate integrate additional security patches as they're reported
- Guarantee SLA response and resolution times under a support maintenance plan
Customer Recommendations
We encourage all customers to:
- Change the factory default password
- Access the appliance only over HTTPS
- Configure trusted NTP servers
- Back up their configuration regularly
